Inside the Orchestra programs are an experience like no other. Children get to discover what it is to be truly "inside the orchestra" as they are seated on the floor and surrounded by our professional musicians. Conductors face the audience and teach the children about the music while it is performing around them. Through partnerships with other organizations, we feature professional opera singers and professional dancers in all programs as well.

In the last school year alone, Inside the Orchestra served more than 22,000 children and caregivers, most of whom had never experienced live orchestra music before. The vast majority of our young audience members come from under-served communities. Proceeds from this event support the following:

Inside the Orchestra for Schools - Inside the Orchestra for Schools is an interactive 50-minute program geared toward students in
K-8th grade. We take a 14-16 piece interactive orchestra program into high-need schools, along with in-class follow-up programs and lesson plans. Available in English and bilingual formats. Our school program is provided at no charge to the cash-strapped schools we serve.

Tiny Tots - Tiny Tots gets children truly “inside the orchestra” by seating the audience on the floor and surrounding them with our 30+ piece professional orchestra. The conductor faces the audience and
talk directly to the kids throughout the performance, asking questions and teaching them about the music as it is playing around them. More than half of our Tiny Tots attendees are on a need-based discount or full scholarship.

Spark! Program with Alzheimer's
 - Created for adults with dementia and their families, audiences enjoy short chamber music works, discussions about the composers and the pieces, and have the chance to think critically and ask and answer questions about the music and move and dance along.

Family Concerts - offered free to the public throughout the summer.
