Join The Salvation Army of Orlando on Friday, May 5 for the 2017 “Give Hope, Change Lives” Gala and Silent Auction, featuring former Major League Baseball player and 4-time World Series Champion, Darryl Strawberry. The event will take place from 6 PM to 8:30 PM at Ports of Call at SeaWorld® Orlando, located on 7007 SeaWorld Drive.

Our Annual Celebration presents The Salvation Army of Orlando to the community and also serves as our largest fundraising event. Proceeds benefit men, women and children served by our programs.

“Doing the Most Good.”
In these four words, our mission – to feed, to clothe, to comfort, to care. We are here to rebuild broken homes and broken lives. By walking with the addicted, we can lead them to recovery; in fighting hunger and poverty, we can feed and nurture the spirit; and living and sharing the Christian Gospel by meeting tangible needs, we give the world a lasting display of the love behind our beliefs.

Darryl Strawberry is described as a legend by many who have been dazzled by the dynamics of his game, the power he possessed at the plate and the story of redemption that continues to bring hope to so many lives. He has earned the legendary nicknames and phrases of one of the most feared home run hitters in the game of baseball, Straw’s Sweet Swing, Strawberry’s Field Forever and The Legendary Straw Man!

“I have a heart for people, especially those who are faced with conditions, situations or battles in their lives that often bring a deep sense of hopelessness to the soul.“

Today, as an ordained Minister, Darryl’s purpose and passion is serving The Lord Jesus Christ by speaking a message of hope and helping others transform their lives through the power of the gospel. “I was once very lost and tormented but now I am found and free in Christ Jesus. I want everyone to experience the saving and transforming power of Jesus Christ.” -Darryl Strawberry
