6pm Cocktails | 7pm Dinner

The Sylvia Center’s programs in Columbia County engage youth in every step of the story of food from seed to plate, so they experience the joys of growing, preparing, and sharing fresh food together. Programs on Katchkie Farm start with a sensory tour of the Learning Garden. Students are encouraged to touch, smell, and taste from among the over 200 varieties of edible vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers.  Later, students dig, weed and harvest before moving to the outdoor kitchen to chop, mix, cook, and eat a healthy, delicious group lunch while talking about what they have learned and enjoying each other’s company. As importantly, they get to enjoy a beautiful day in nature, a delicious meal they’ve prepared themselves, collaboration, and new friendships.

Our healthy cooking programs in Hudson provide youth and their families with the skills and resources to be able to cook and eat healthy food on a budget. In a 6-week course, students learn all they need to prepare meals at home and  how to find affordable, fresh ingredients.

This year, The Sylvia Center celebrates its 10th Anniversary. Between our programs in Columbia County and New York City, over 20,000 students have been to the farm and taken our classes since 2007. Some of our students have become teachers themselves -- in their own communities and schools. Our new Train the Trainer program launched in early 2017 -- and through this program, organizations can send their staff to learn The Sylvia Center curriculum and teaching techniques so that they can offer classes in their schools, community centers, and after-school programs.

Please join us to celebrate ten years and launch our second decade. Your support will enable thousands more young people and their families to enjoy a beautiful day in nature, delicious meals they prepare themselves, collaboration and new friendships.
